Monolithic frame construction
With the magnitude of the forces developed in pressing large tonnages, the integrity of the press frame becomes critical. Any distortion limits capacity and creates undue side thrust on the cylinder and ram. This leads to premature wear and hydraulic leaks. That's why STENHØJ utilized heavygauge steel plate throughout, in all its presses. The vertical and cross members are fixtured and box welded for maximum strength. Cylinder supports, table and table pin supports are surface ground to maintain parallel accuracy. All presses are generously proportioned with a large built-in safety factor.

Reliable, consistent hydraulics
The LUX Series incorporates a two-stage piston pump which provides fast advance and retract of the ram, in addition to extremely precise control during the pressing operation. The hand lever enables infinite adjustment of the ram speed, proportional to its position, and a separate valve permits adjusting ram pressure from 0-to the maximum tonnage. This allows repeatability, and regulation so as not to damage the workpiece or exceed safety limits.

Precision cylinder and ram
Large tonnages, which are generated with the LUX models, requires extremely accurate guiding of the ram. The cylinder and ram assembly are subjected to minute scrutiny throughout the manufacturing process. It starts with metallurgical documentation and on through heat-treating, machining, polishing, plating, compound seal installation and rigorous testing before shipment. This attention to detail assures delivery of full rated capacity over years of operation with minimum repair and maintenance.

Tooling
Two combination Parallels/V Blocks are supplied as standard accessories with each press. The pressing plate flange is predrilled for the attachment of various types of tooling which can be supplied on special order.
